ISLAMABAD, June 2026: The Embassy of Belgium in Islamabad has highlighted the role of women in diplomacy, calling for stronger global efforts to improve gender representation in international decision-making and foreign service roles.

In a social media message, the embassy noted that only one in five diplomats globally are women, urging renewed attention toward creating more inclusive diplomatic structures. The statement emphasized that greater representation of women strengthens peacebuilding, dialogue, and international cooperation through broader perspectives and approaches.

The post featured images of women diplomats and professionals under the theme “Women Leading the Way,” reflecting the embassy’s recognition of female leadership in global diplomacy and public service.

Call for inclusive leadership in diplomacy

According to the message, women bring resilience, empathy, and diverse viewpoints to diplomatic engagement, contributing to more effective dialogue in complex global issues. The embassy also stressed the importance of removing barriers and stigma that limit access to formal diplomatic roles.

It further encouraged the creation of opportunities that allow young women to participate in international relations and leadership positions without structural limitations.
