Washington: US President Donald Trump has said the United States will not unfreeze Iranian assets or lift sanctions before a deal is reached with Tehran, reaffirming Washington’s position amid ongoing diplomatic efforts surrounding the future of US-Iran negotiations.

Speaking in an interview with NBC News’ Meet the Press, Trump said any discussion on easing sanctions or releasing frozen Iranian assets would only take place after an agreement is finalized.

Asked whether the United States would consider such measures before a deal, Trump responded that those steps would come afterward and depend on Iran’s conduct.

The remarks come as diplomatic engagement over the US-Iran relationship continues, with regional countries also involved in efforts aimed at reducing tensions and encouraging dialogue.

Earlier, Naqvi also held talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. The two sides exchanged views on ceasefire efforts and ongoing dialogue aimed at easing tensions in the region.

Messages from Pakistan’s leadership

Speaking to the media, Naqvi said he carried a special letter from Pakistan’s Field Marshal for Iran’s Supreme Leader, as well as a message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the Iranian leadership.
