BHOPAL: An Indian social media vlogger in the state of Madhya Pradesh reportedly lost jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in a burglary that investigators believe may have been facilitated by information shared through online videos.
According to Indian media reports, thieves stole jewelry valued at more than one million Indian rupees from the woman’s residence after allegedly gathering details about the home and valuables from content posted on social media.
The incident has drawn attention to growing concerns about privacy and security risks associated with publicly sharing details of personal lifestyles, homes and expensive possessions online.
Police investigating burglary
Authorities said the suspects appeared to have detailed knowledge of the property’s layout and the location of valuable items inside the house.
Investigators initially suspected that someone familiar with the family or residence may have been involved due to the level of information displayed by the perpetrators during the burglary.
However, the investigation later revealed that the homeowner is a well-known vlogger who had frequently shared videos showcasing her residence, lifestyle and jewelry collection on social media platforms.
CCTV footage under review
Police believe the suspects may have used information from those videos to learn about the home’s interior structure and identify the location of valuable belongings before carrying out the theft.
During the investigation, CCTV footage reportedly showed a masked individual outside the property adjusting the angle of surveillance cameras before the burglary took place.
Family members told police that the stolen jewelry is estimated to be worth between 800,000 and one million Indian rupees. According to reports, the value translates to approximately Rs3 million in Pakistani currency.
Search for suspects continues
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
Authorities said efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible, but no arrests had been made at the time of reporting.
The case has also prompted renewed discussion about online safety and the potential risks of publicly sharing information that could reveal details about personal property and valuables.
