Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has revealed that he received offers to act in Bollywood during his cricket career, including a role in the popular film Gangster and a separate offer from Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
Speaking on Tabish Hashmi’s show, Akhtar said he had seriously considered acting at one point. He also revealed that several filmmakers believed he could play a convincing villain because of his personality and appearance.
Why Shoaib Akhtar Chose Cricket
Akhtar said that despite his interest in acting, he eventually realised that pursuing a film career alongside international cricket would be difficult.
He therefore decided to focus fully on cricket rather than divide his attention between the two careers.
The former fast bowler went on to establish himself as one of Pakistan’s most recognisable cricketers, while his Bollywood acting opportunities remained unrealised.
