Senior Pakistani actor Nauman Ijaz has revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in June 2024 and has spoken publicly about his recovery journey, saying that daily recitation of Surah Rahman became an important source of spiritual support during his treatment.
Speaking on a podcast, Ijaz said doctors had identified a tumor near his ear as well as lymphoma in his stomach. After learning about his condition, he turned to prayers and sought Allah’s mercy while also worrying about the difficulties his illness could cause for his family.
Ijaz said he feared at times that he might not wake up the following morning. Before going to sleep, he would recite different Quranic verses and prayers. He later began reciting Surah Rahman daily after his friend, Gohar Butt, suggested it.
Treatment and Recovery
According to Ijaz, the tumor near his ear was removed through surgery. Doctors had also planned to begin chemotherapy in July, but subsequent scans showed that the lymphoma in his stomach was no longer visible.
The actor described the scan results as unexpected and said his recovery was a deeply significant experience for him.
Ijaz expressed gratitude to Allah for his recovery, saying he felt that Allah had been extremely kind to him throughout the difficult period.
His comments describe his personal experience of combining medical treatment with religious faith and prayer during his illness.
