LAHORE: The Punjab government has imposed a one-month ban on eight stage actresses over allegations of inappropriate dancing and gestures during theatre performances.
The Punjab Information and Culture Department issued a notification announcing the action against the performers. According to the notification, the actresses were accused of presenting objectionable dance performances and making inappropriate gestures on stage.
The performers named in the notification are Mahi Rajput, Hina Sheikh, Malaika Shehzadi, Madiha Khan, Mehak Noor, Manu Multani, Raima Mehr and Hasna Jutt.
Ban applies to theatre performances
Under the order, the eight actresses will not be allowed to perform in theatres for one month.
The notification directed all relevant authorities to ensure strict implementation of the ban.
The action was taken under the provincial government’s oversight of theatre performances and content presented on stage
