RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces killed six suspected militants during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.

The military’s media wing said the operation was conducted on the night of June 3 and 4 after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area. The operation targeted individuals whom the ISPR identified as members of “Fitna al Hindustan.”

According to the statement, security forces engaged multiple militant locations during the operation, leading to an exchange of fire in which six suspected militants were killed.

The ISPR said weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and a vehicle were recovered from the site. The military stated that the individuals killed had allegedly been involved in various militant activities in the region.

Sanitisation operation underway

The military said a follow-up sanitisation operation is continuing in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.

Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies are continuing counterterrorism operations under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” strategy, which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan framework.

Security situation in Balochistan

Balochistan has witnessed a number of security operations in recent years as authorities seek to counter militant violence and maintain stability in the province.

The ISPR said security forces remain committed to preventing militant activity and addressing threats posed by armed groups operating in the region.
