RAWALPINDI, June 4: Security forces killed four suspected militants during two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan and Mohmand districts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

According to the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted during the night of June 3 and 4 following reports regarding the presence of militants in the two districts.

In Dera Ismail Khan, security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation and engaged suspected militants at their location. Following an exchange of fire, two militants were killed, the ISPR said.

A separate intelligence-based operation was conducted in Mohmand district, where security forces killed two more suspected militants during what the military described as a successful engagement.

The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in terrorist activities in the area.

Search operation continues

According to the statement, sanitization operations are continuing in the affected areas to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.

The military said security forces and law enforcement agencies remain engaged in ongoing counterterrorism efforts under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam initiative aimed at combating militancy and improving security across the country.

No casualties among security personnel were reported in the statement.

The operations come amid continued efforts by security forces to target militant networks and disrupt terrorist activities in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
