KARACHI — PM Shehbaz Sharif has allowed fans back into stadiums for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 playoffs, approving public attendance for all remaining matches while urging spectators to limit fuel use under national austerity measures.
The decision, confirmed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, applies to all three playoff fixtures and the final. It comes as the tournament enters its decisive phase, beginning with the Qualifier between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United at National Bank Stadium.
The approval carries a key condition: fans are strongly encouraged to use public transport or minimise fuel consumption while attending matches, reflecting broader government efforts to manage energy use.
Condition tied to fuel conservation
Officials say the transport advisory is part of ongoing austerity measures aimed at reducing fuel demand. While stadiums will now reopen to crowds, authorities want attendance to align with national energy-saving efforts.
The prime minister also conveyed his best wishes to the four teams in contention — Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, Multan Sultans and Hyderabad Kingsmen — as the tournament heads into its final stage.
Ticket details expected
The development follows the launch of online ticket sales for the PSL 11 final, with physical ticket sales set to begin shortly. With spectators now cleared for all remaining fixtures, the PCB is expected to announce further details regarding ticketing and matchday arrangements.
