Arshad Nadeem Opts for South Africa Training, Skips Lausanne Diamond League
Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem has decided to skip the Lausanne Diamond League and instead travel to South Africa for an overseas training camp ahead of major international competitions.
According to sources, Nadeem was initially included in the entry list for the Lausanne Diamond League on August 21, but has now decided not to compete in the event.
The Pakistani javelin thrower is expected to travel to South Africa for a training camp once his visa is approved. He has previously completed two training stints in the country. Reports say he will train under his coach Terseus Liebenberg and local trainers.
Nadeem’s decision comes as he prepares for a busy international schedule and seeks to sharpen his form ahead of upcoming major events.
After completing his South African training camp, Nadeem is expected to compete at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, where the men’s javelin final is scheduled for September 13. The championship will take place from September 11 to 13, 2026.
He is then expected to turn his attention towards the Asian Games, with the South Africa camp aimed at providing dedicated preparation time before those competitions.
Nadeem’s decision to prioritise training over the Lausanne meet reflects his focus on reaching peak form for the season’s more important international events.
