Pakistan finished the ITF Masters World Championships in Lisbon, Portugal, with four medals, led by veteran tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, who successfully defended his mixed doubles world championship title for a second consecutive year.
Aisam-ul-Haq teamed up with Austria’s Nina Hermann to defeat a top-seeded Portuguese pair in the final, securing another major international achievement in his long tennis career.
Aisam-ul-Haq Retains Mixed Doubles Crown
The title defence was the highlight of Pakistan’s campaign at the championships. Aisam-ul-Haq and Hermann overcame the Portuguese top seeds in a closely contested final to retain their world mixed doubles crown.
The victory further adds to the international achievements of the experienced Pakistani player, who remains one of the country’s most prominent tennis figures.
Pakistan Secures Three More Medals
Pakistan’s medal tally also included a silver medal in the Men’s 45+ Doubles, won by Aisam-ul-Haq and fellow Pakistani player Aqeel Khan.
The Pakistani team also claimed silver in the Men’s 45+ World Team Championship, adding another podium finish at the event.
Aqeel Khan completed Pakistan’s medal haul with a bronze medal in the 40+ Mixed Doubles category.
With one gold, two silver and one bronze medal, Pakistan ended its campaign with four medals at the ITF Masters World Championships in Lisbon.
