LAHORE: Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar has submitted a statement to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in response to allegations made by actress Momina Iqbal, rejecting the claims against him and presenting his account of events.

The development comes amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of harassment and death threats involving Momina Iqbal. The case has attracted public attention due to the involvement of a sitting lawmaker and a well-known television actress.

According to the statement submitted to the NCCIA, Chadhar said he first met Momina Iqbal in 2020 and that the two later developed a close relationship. He claimed they traveled together on several occasions within Pakistan and abroad, with him covering the expenses.

Chadhar further alleged that information regarding Momina Iqbal’s previous marriage and divorce had not been disclosed to him and said he decided against marriage after learning of it. He stated that he ended the relationship in August 2025.

Financial and blackmail allegations

In his statement, Chadhar alleged that Momina Iqbal’s sister, Rimsha Iqbal, received financial payments from him and accused her of blackmail. He claimed to have transferred funds for educational expenses and other financial support during the course of his relationship with the actress and her family.

He also alleged that certain individuals threatened to release personal photos and videos. Chadhar said he asked Momina Iqbal and her sister not to share any such material.

Response to complaint

The lawmaker maintained that Momina Iqbal was aware that he was married and claimed that call records could support his position. He further alleged that her complaint to the NCCIA and police contained inconsistencies and false statements.

Chadhar also claimed that a man identified as Hamza, whom he described as Momina Iqbal’s husband, had issued threats against him. He said a related case had been registered in Chiniot.

Court grants interim bail

Separately, a sessions court in Lahore issued a written order granting interim bail to Saqib Chadhar and his wife, Sameera, in a case registered by the NCCIA.

Additional Sessions Judge Irfan Ahmad Sheikh directed both applicants to join the investigation and appear before the court on each hearing date until a final decision on their bail applications is made.

The NCCIA has registered a case against Chadhar and his wife, while investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
