Players Must Play Domestic Cricket to Stay in Central Contracts, Mohsin Naqvi Says

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said players who take part in domestic cricket will remain eligible for central contracts, as the board prepares changes to its selection and contract policies.

Speaking informally to journalists at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Naqvi said the PCB had been working on cricket-related reforms for the past month and that several matters would be finalised within the next few days.

He said the board had prepared policies for T20, One-Day International and Test cricket, along with changes related to central contracts and selection matters.

Naqvi said the PCB was working to make player selection more data-driven and structured. He added that the board had already made it clear last year that players who participate in domestic cricket would remain part of the central contract system.

According to Naqvi, players who do not meet the required category criteria will not be able to make it into the national team.

The PCB chairman said the board is preparing five categories for players under the new framework.

The remarks come as the PCB reviews its central contract structure ahead of the new cycle. Local media reported in May that the existing financial model for central contracts was due to expire on June 30 and that new contracts were expected to include changes based on fitness and performance.
