Bangladesh created a milestone in international cricket by defeating Australia in a One-Day International series for the first time, sealing the achievement with a five-wicket victory in the rain-affected second ODI.

The win gave Bangladesh an unassailable lead in the series and marked one of the most significant results in the country’s ODI history. It was also Bangladesh’s third-ever victory over Australia in One-Day Internationals.

Australia Post 187 Before Rain Interruption

Australia were batting first and reached 187 runs in 42 overs before rain interrupted play.

Marnus Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 55, while Xavier Bartlett contributed 52 runs to help Australia build a competitive total under challenging conditions.

Bangladesh’s bowling attack was led by Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, who claimed three wickets each to restrict the visitors.

Bangladesh Chase Revised Target Comfortably

Following the rain delay, Bangladesh were set a revised target of 192 runs in 41 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

The hosts successfully chased down the target in just 35 overs, losing five wickets along the way and securing a memorable victory.

Historic Achievement for Bangladesh Cricket

The result marks Bangladesh’s first ODI series triumph over Australia and adds another landmark achievement to the team’s recent progress in international cricket.

The victory is expected to boost confidence within the squad as Bangladesh continues to compete against the world’s top-ranked cricket nations.
