LAHORE: Pakistan and India are set to meet twice this month in the FIH Pro League as the two traditional rivals prepare for crucial fixtures in London later in June.
The matches are scheduled for June 23 and June 26, with ticket sales already underway. The encounters come at an important stage of the tournament, particularly for Pakistan, which is battling to retain its place in the elite international competition.
Pakistan’s national hockey team is currently holding a training camp in Lahore ahead of the European leg of the league. Under the FIH Pro League schedule, the team will depart for Belgium on June 9.
The Green Shirts will face Belgium on June 13 before taking on Spain on June 14. Pakistan will then play Belgium again on June 19 and Spain on June 20. The fixtures were originally scheduled for June 16 and 17 before being revised.
After completing its matches in Belgium, the Pakistan squad will travel to London on June 21 for the final round of league fixtures.
Pakistan will face India on June 23, followed by a match against England on June 24. The team will then take on India again on June 26 before concluding its campaign against England on June 27.
Pakistan has struggled throughout the tournament so far, losing all eight of its matches and remaining at the bottom of the standings without a point.
With relegation a possibility, maintaining its place in the FIH Pro League remains a major challenge for the national side. Under the competition format, the team finishing last among the nine participating nations is relegated at the end of the season.
