China backs Pakistan’s role in US-Iran talks, signals support for regional diplomacy

ISLAMABAD: China has expressed strong support for Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate US-Iran talks, reinforcing Islamabad’s emerging role in regional diplomacy aimed at easing tensions.

The development came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad, where both sides reviewed the regional situation and ongoing diplomatic engagement.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the Chinese envoy appreciated Islamabad’s initiative to promote dialogue between Washington and Tehran, noting that such efforts are important for maintaining peace and stability in the region.

China reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s role in fostering diplomatic engagement and reducing tensions, while both countries emphasized the importance of their All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Officials said the two sides agreed to continue high-level exchanges and expand cooperation, underscoring their long-standing bilateral ties.

The statement comes amid increased diplomatic momentum around potential negotiations between the United States and Iran, with Pakistan positioning itself as a key facilitator.
