RAWALPINDI, June 9: General Rodolphe Haykal, Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces, met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday, where the two military leaders discussed regional security developments, defence cooperation and bilateral military relations.
The visit underscores ongoing efforts by Pakistan and Lebanon to strengthen military-to-military engagement through professional exchanges, training cooperation and institutional collaboration between their armed forces.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Haykal was presented a guard of honour by a tri-services contingent upon his arrival at GHQ.
Focus on security and military cooperation
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and opportunities to enhance defence cooperation.
The discussions also covered ways to expand professional interactions, training initiatives and institutional linkages between the armed forces of Pakistan and Lebanon.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed the importance Pakistan attaches to its longstanding relations with Lebanon and reiterated the Pakistan Army’s commitment to broadening defence collaboration with the Lebanese Armed Forces.
Recognition of Pakistan Armed Forces
General Haykal praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions to regional stability and international peacekeeping missions.
According to ISPR, the visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to strengthening bilateral military relations and expanding cooperation between their defence institutions.
