TIANJIN, China: International visitors attending the 2026 World Intelligence Expo in Tianjin highlighted China’s growing role in artificial intelligence and robotics, as the event brought together more than 700 companies and organizations from around the world.
Held from May 28 to 31, the expo features emerging technologies ranging from humanoid robots and large language models to smart factories, intelligent vehicles and aerospace innovations. The event offers a platform for businesses, researchers and policymakers to explore how AI is reshaping industries and global markets.
Among the visitors was German technology expert Andrea Rösinger, who said the integration of AI and robotics across sectors such as healthcare and manufacturing demonstrates the pace of technological change.
The exhibition spans 130,000 square meters and includes six themed halls focused on AI core technologies, embodied intelligence, intelligent manufacturing, smart living, low-altitude economy and connected mobility.
International businesses explore opportunities
Global companies attending the expo said they were interested in both China’s market size and its growing innovation ecosystem.
Rainer Kern, regional chief financial officer and vice general manager of Karcher China, said artificial intelligence is accelerating research, development and business decision-making across industries.
He noted that AI tools are helping companies conduct market analysis, understand consumer demand and improve operational efficiency more quickly than before.
China’s innovation ecosystem draws interest
Several international delegates described China as an important destination for technological collaboration and future innovation.
Hendrik Krüger, general manager of German digital solutions company X Control, attended the expo as part of a business delegation seeking partnerships with Chinese firms. He said AI is becoming increasingly integrated into software development, cybersecurity, customer service and business analytics.
Krüger also highlighted the growing role of open-source AI initiatives, which he said are creating new opportunities for international cooperation.
Growing confidence among foreign businesses
According to a recent survey cited during the event, China’s research and development ecosystem, talent base and ability to commercialize new technologies continue to attract foreign investment and innovation partnerships.
Industry representatives said artificial intelligence is rapidly moving from research laboratories into real-world industrial applications, making China an increasingly important market for companies seeking to understand future technology trends.
The World Intelligence Expo is one of China’s major technology events and serves as a showcase for advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics and next-generation industrial development.
