Ghulam Rasool Anar has approached a Karachi court, seeking registration of a case against a woman he alleges used AI-generated images and later made threats and financial demands.
KARACHI: Former Sindh Assembly member Ghulam Rasool Anar has approached the Additional District and Sessions Court South in Karachi, seeking directions for police to register a case against a woman over allegations involving AI-generated images, blackmail and threats.
According to the application and statements made by his lawyer, Anar became acquainted with the woman through social media and married her through a video call on February 23, 2026, without seeing her actual face.
His lawyer, Aamir Nawaz Waraich, told the court that whenever Anar asked the woman to show her face, she allegedly sent images generated or altered using artificial intelligence.
The lawyer claimed that the woman also wore a veil on the day of the marriage. According to the application, Anar saw her face after the marriage and was surprised because he allegedly found her appearance significantly different from the images previously shared with him.
The lawyer further claimed that Anar subsequently distanced himself from the woman after seeing her face, although the marriage initially remained intact.
Allegations of False Posts and Threats
According to the applicant’s lawyer, the woman later allegedly posted false images and social media content suggesting that Anar had died. The former lawmaker subsequently divorced her on August 2, according to the application.
The lawyer also claimed that a complaint had previously been submitted to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The application further alleges that after the divorce, the woman demanded a large sum of money and allegedly threatened and blackmailed the former assembly member.
These allegations have not been independently established, and the woman’s response to the claims was not included in the report.
Court Seeks Police Report
The court has issued notices to the SP Complaints Cell and the SHO Defence, directing police to submit a report by August 17.
The court proceedings concern allegations made by the applicant, and any criminal liability would depend on investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
