For many parents, getting children to complete homework can be a challenge, often involving scolding. However, for one father in China, reprimanding his child turned into a legal nightmare.
According to an international news agency, the incident occurred in Yongning County, China, where a 10-year-old boy, unable to complete his homework, was scolded by his father. Instead of focusing on his homework, the boy went to a nearby store, accessed a phone, and called the police, alleging that his father possessed opium at home.
The boy returned home, but the rest of the family was unaware of the impending trouble. Upon investigation, the police found eight dried opium pods on the balcony. The father admitted to keeping them for medicinal purposes, but since possessing opium is illegal in China, his explanation was disregarded, and the case was handed over to the anti-narcotics brigade.
The child’s details have not been disclosed by Chinese media following the incident.
