ISLAMABAD: A senior security official held an important session with members of the media in Islamabad, where key security and regional diplomatic matters were discussed, including Pakistan’s role in efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting peace in the region.
According to security sources, Pakistan’s civil and military leadership has pursued mediation efforts with the objective of supporting regional stability and peace among Muslim countries, rather than seeking narrow political or diplomatic gains.
Sources said Pakistan’s engagement with relevant stakeholders was driven by concerns that a wider conflict in the region could have carried serious consequences for regional security, energy markets and the broader Muslim world.
They said Pakistan worked through consultation and cooperation with key partners to help prevent further escalation. Security sources credited Field Marshal Asim Munir’s diplomatic engagement as an important factor in efforts to avoid a wider conflict.
“This was a war won through sincerity, competence, strategic clarity and Allah’s blessings for the greater good of humanity without actually being fought,” security sources said, describing the effort as an example of strategy aimed at preventing conflict rather than managing it after escalation.
Sources stressed that the diplomatic process remains sensitive and requires confidentiality, responsibility and caution. They said Pakistan, as a responsible mediator, would not comment on the contents, substance or next stages of any talks.
According to the security officials, speculation could harm ongoing peace efforts, particularly at a time when multiple actors may attempt to undermine or derail diplomatic progress.
“Pakistan will continue to work with its partners in good faith and with sincerity to pursue peace,” the sources said.
The officials also acknowledged the role of Muslim countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, saying Riyadh had shown leadership, restraint and strategic patience during a tense period. They said such coordination helped prevent a conflict that could have further destabilized the region and deepened divisions within the Muslim world.
The briefing also emphasized that military diplomacy and relations with friendly countries should not be viewed through a single or narrow lens. Officials said such engagement forms part of broader state diplomacy based on national interests, regional stability and long-term cooperation between countries.
Sources said Pakistan would continue supporting dialogue, restraint and diplomatic engagement as the preferred path for resolving disputes and preventing conflict in the region.
