RAWALPINDI, April 20 — Pakistan and Egypt have completed the Pakistan–Egypt Joint Exercise Thunder-II in Cherat, a two-week military drill focused on counterterrorism operations, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The exercise brought together special forces from both countries to improve coordination, operational techniques, and joint response capabilities against militant threats, reflecting ongoing defence cooperation between the two nations.
Special forces participate in joint drills
According to ISPR, combat teams from the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) and Egyptian Special Forces took part in the exercise.

The training focused on refining tactics, drills, and procedures related to counterterrorism operations through coordinated field activities.
Senior officials attend closing ceremony
The closing ceremony was attended by the General Officer Commanding of the Special Services Group as chief guest.
Egyptian officials, including Commander of Paratroopers Major General Mohamed Saad Abdel Razik and Egypt’s Defence Attaché, were also present.
Focus on military cooperation
The exercise aimed to enhance interoperability between the two armies while strengthening long-standing military ties between Pakistan and Egypt.
ISPR said such joint training initiatives contribute to improving operational readiness and cooperation in counterterrorism efforts.
