KARACHI: A judicial magistrate’s court has issued a notice to the prosecution on a police request seeking permission to obtain a voice recording of alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky as part of ongoing investigations into multiple cases, including narcotics-related charges.
Police approached the court seeking approval to record the accused’s voice and send digital evidence for forensic examination. Investigators say the move is necessary to verify the authenticity of voice messages, call recordings and other digital material linked to the case.
According to the police application, Anmol Pinky has denied that the voice recordings, voice messages and call recordings collected during the investigation belong to her. Authorities have requested permission to conduct a jail-based voice sample recording and send the material to the Punjab forensic laboratory for analysis.
Investigators told the court that a forensic examination would help determine whether the voice contained in the digital evidence matches that of the accused.
Bail plea decision deferred
Separately, the District and Sessions Judge South postponed a decision on the bail applications of individuals alleged to have facilitated Anmol Pinky until June 10.
During the hearing, the investigating officer submitted forensic reports related to WhatsApp chats and video calls. Deputy District Prosecutor Arif Sitai informed the court that suspects Sohail Rehman and Zeeshan Rehman were alleged facilitators of Anmol Pinky.
The prosecution further argued that although one of the accused declared a monthly income of Rs50,000, bank records showed transactions worth millions of rupees, and therefore the suspects did not qualify for bail.
Murder case proceedings continue
In a separate development, proceedings were also held in a murder case registered against Anmol Pinky at the City Court.
Police sought additional time to submit an interim charge sheet. The investigating officer informed the court that the report had been forwarded to senior police officials for approval and would be submitted once the process was completed.
The court granted the request and extended the deadline until June 9.
The murder case was registered at Baghdadi Police Station on the complaint of a Lines Area resident, Sheroz.
Report alleges suspicious banking activity
Meanwhile, reports have surfaced alleging that a salary account linked to Anmol Pinky at a Lahore bank was opened using fraudulent documentation.
According to an investigation report prepared in connection with an Anti-Narcotics Force case registered in 2019, the account showed transactions exceeding Rs63.9 million. Investigators stated that the account holder was presented as an employee of a company that was later found not to exist at the address provided in banking records.
The report further claimed that documents submitted to open the account were found to be forged during the investigation.
