ISLAMABAD — April 26: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has rolled out a fully paperless driving licence system across its service centres, allowing citizens to complete the entire process using only their original CNIC. The move is aimed at simplifying procedures, reducing paperwork, and improving service efficiency.
Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk directed all facilitation centres to ensure strict implementation of the new system during a review meeting. Officials said the transition covers every stage, from medical examination to licence printing, without the use of physical documents.
Simplified process for applicants
Under the updated system, applicants no longer need to submit photocopies or additional paperwork. Authorities said the change will help reduce processing time and make the licensing process more accessible.
Dedicated counters have also been set up for women and senior citizens to ensure smoother service delivery.
Digital shift in public services
The CTO instructed staff to maintain professional conduct and provide courteous assistance to all applicants. Officials said the initiative is part of broader efforts to modernise public services through digital transformation.
The ITP is also planning to introduce a digital fee payment system, further streamlining the licensing process and reducing manual handling.
