Mirpur – Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, along with Senior Supreme Court Judge Justice Khawaja Muhammad Naseem and Supreme Court Judge Justice Raza Ali Khan, inaugurated the New Year Spring Tree Plantation Drive at the designated site for the newly constructed Supreme Court building. Each of them planted a tree as part of the initiative.
Following the plantation ceremony, Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, accompanied by the esteemed judges, visited the construction site of the new Supreme Court building in Mirpur. They reviewed the progress of the project initiated by the Public Works Department (PWD) Building Division, Mirpur. The department’s officials began the land leveling process using machinery, which was observed by the Chief Justice and other dignitaries.
Officials of the Public Works Department informed the Chief Justice that the land for the new Supreme Court building would be fully leveled by Ramadan, and the foundation of the building would be completed by Eid.
Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan emphasized that the new Supreme Court Registry Branch building in Mirpur should be built as a state-of-the-art facility befitting the stature of the Supreme Court. He stressed maintaining high-quality standards in its construction.
The event was attended by Advocate General Sheikh Masood Iqbal, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association Javed Najam-ul-Saqib Advocate, office-bearers of the Supreme and High Court Bars, senior lawyers, Chief Conservator of Forests Raja Zahid Hussain Khan, Conservator of Forests Raja Jahanzeb Khizar, SE Buildings Tahir Mehmood Butt, Android Buildings Shehzada Aurangzeb, DFO Raja Imran Shafi, DFO Raja Akram Subhani Khan, MD of Seven Star & Co. Choudhary Irfan Anwar, as well as office-bearers and members of the Kashmir Press Club.
During the ceremony, Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court, Iftikhar Shaukat, offered prayers for the success of the national tree plantation campaign and the swift completion of the new Supreme Court building.
