Abbottabad LPG dealers reject OGRA pricing notification, warn of district-wide strike

ABBOTTABAD: LPG dealers in Abbottabad have rejected the latest notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), warning that they will launch a district-wide strike and shut down LPG outlets if they are not supplied gas at affordable wholesale rates.

Speaking at a press conference at the Abbottabad Press Club, representatives of the LPG Association said dealers cannot purchase LPG at high market prices while selling it at the government-notified rates, arguing that the current pricing structure is financially unsustainable.

The association said implementing the notification would result in significant losses for local dealers unless LPG is made available at lower prices.

The dealers urged the district administration to facilitate talks between plant owners, distributors and LPG retailers to develop a sustainable pricing mechanism and ensure uninterrupted gas supplies to consumers.

The association warned that if its demands are not addressed, it will expand its protest by closing LPG shops across the district, holding the relevant authorities responsible for any disruption in supply.
