ISLAMABAD, May 5 — The Benazir Income Support Programme and the World Food Programme held talks on strengthening collaboration to improve maternal and child health under the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, with a focus on nutrition, immunisation, and service delivery.
The discussion took place during a meeting between BISP Chairperson Rubina Khalid and WFP Country Director Coco Ushiyama at BISP headquarters in Islamabad.
Focus on maternal and child health
Officials reviewed measures to enhance health outcomes for women beneficiaries and their children, including strengthening interventions under the Nashonuma Programme. Rubina Khalid highlighted the importance of immunisation and awareness campaigns, noting that requiring immunisation certificates for BISP registration is intended to support better child health outcomes.

Expanding outreach and digital services
The meeting discussed proposals to expand the programme’s reach to more eligible women and improve service delivery through digital systems. Both sides also explored adopting successful international models to strengthen programme implementation in Pakistan.
Continued partnership
