BERLIN: Air conditioners are becoming increasingly important as global temperatures continue to rise, but a new smart AC showcased by Chinese technology company Midea is taking cooling technology a step further.
The company introduced the innovative system at the IFA technology exhibition in Germany, featuring a cooling mechanism designed to follow the person inside the room.
Unlike conventional air conditioners that distribute cool air throughout an entire room, the new system uses spatial imaging technology and sensors to detect and track a person’s position. It then directs the flow of cool air toward them.
According to the information presented about the system, targeted cooling could help reduce unnecessary energy consumption while providing more personalized comfort.
The smart AC can also work with other devices, including a humidifier, allowing the system to help regulate both room temperature and humidity.
Another feature is voice activation, enabling users to control the air-conditioning system through voice commands without having to physically operate the unit.
Midea has not yet announced when the new system will become commercially available, leaving its launch timeline unclear.
