Rawalpindi: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, met Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian in Rawalpindi on June 23, 2026, where both sides discussed regional developments, peace efforts, and bilateral cooperation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The meeting focused on ongoing geopolitical challenges in the region and the importance of dialogue and de-escalation. During the interaction, Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability and encouraging peaceful resolution of disputes was acknowledged by the Iranian leadership.
According to ISPR, President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s “constructive and responsible role” in fostering dialogue and supporting efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions. He noted Islamabad’s continued engagement with regional stakeholders to promote understanding amid evolving security dynamics.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace, stability, and constructive engagement across the region.
Both sides reaffirmed their intention to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations and maintain regular consultations on matters of mutual interest, with a shared focus on regional peace, prosperity, and stability.
