WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “crazy” during a recent phone call, acknowledging reports of a tense exchange as Washington seeks to negotiate an end to regional hostilities involving Iran and Lebanon.
Speaking on the “Pod Force One” podcast, Trump said he was frustrated by the continued fighting involving Lebanon but maintained that his relationship with the Israeli leader remains strong.
The remarks came after a report by Axios, citing a US official, claimed Trump used unusually blunt language during a conversation with Netanyahu regarding ongoing military operations and efforts to secure a broader ceasefire in the region.
Asked directly whether he had referred to Netanyahu as “crazy” during the call, Trump responded that he had, while describing himself as “a little bit perturbed” by the situation.
