Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly purchased the historic Strancally Castle in Ireland along with approximately 440 acres of surrounding land, adding another high-value property to his real estate holdings.
According to reports, the Mark Zuckerberg Ireland castle purchase is estimated to be worth between $23 million and $35 million. The property is located near Ireland’s River Blackwater and is within relatively easy reach of Meta’s international headquarters in Dublin.
Historic castle and extensive estate
Strancally Castle dates back to the 19th century and sits on a large riverside estate. Reports citing earlier descriptions of the property say the castle has at least 11 bedrooms, four rooms within its towers, a library, dining room and drawing room.
The property also includes extensive surrounding grounds, with the total estate covering about 440 acres.
Zuckerberg plans to spend time in Ireland
A Meta spokesperson said Zuckerberg and his family would continue to look after the historic residence. Reports indicate that Zuckerberg intends to spend time in Ireland, where Meta maintains its international headquarters.
The castle is also relatively close to Meta’s Dublin operations. The company established a data centre in the city in 2017.
Another major property purchase
The Irish acquisition follows another major real estate purchase by Zuckerberg earlier this year. Reports say he previously bought a property in Miami valued at about $170 million.
The Strancally Castle purchase adds another notable historic estate to the technology executive’s property portfolio.
