Lahore — Punjab’s Energy Minister has urged citizens to strictly follow electrical safety precautions ahead of expected monsoon rains in the first week of July, as the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts widespread rainfall across parts of the province.

The advisory comes amid concerns over increased electrical hazards during the rainy season, with authorities warning that contact with damaged infrastructure during wet conditions can pose serious risks to public safety.

Provincial Energy Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said residents should remain vigilant around electricity poles, transformers, and fallen or broken power lines during rainfall. He warned that touching or approaching such installations could result in severe accidents, particularly in waterlogged areas.

The minister also advised parents to closely monitor children and ensure they do not play near electrical infrastructure during rainy conditions. He further urged people to avoid unnecessary travel through flooded streets and low-lying areas during heavy rain spells.

Officials said emergency response teams and relevant departments have been placed on alert to respond to any incidents during the monsoon period. The government emphasized that timely reporting of electrical hazards can help prevent accidents and reduce risks to public safety.

Authorities reiterated that public awareness and caution remain key to avoiding weather-related electrical incidents during the monsoon season.
