Punjab Minister Reviews Muharram Security Arrangements in Kasur

Provincial Minister for Energy and Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar visited Kasur on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to review Muharram security arrangements and law and order measures across the district.

Chairing a meeting in Kasur, the minister said the protection of life and property during Muharram-ul-Haram would be ensured through coordinated security, surveillance and emergency response arrangements. The meeting reviewed preparations for processions, Majalis, traffic management and monitoring of sensitive locations.

Deputy Commissioner Kasur Muhammad Asif Raza, District Police Officer Aftab Ahmed Phulrawan, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Health Department officials and representatives of other relevant departments attended the meeting.

Security Plan Reviewed

Officials briefed the provincial minister on the district’s security plan for Muharram processions and Majalis. The briefing covered deployment arrangements, traffic diversion plans, emergency response measures and coordination between district administration, police and rescue services.

Khokhar directed authorities to keep sensitive locations, processions and Majalis under strict monitoring. He said all departments should remain on high alert and use available resources to maintain peace and public safety during Muharram.

The minister said there would be no compromise on law and order. He instructed the police, district administration, Rescue 1122 and other departments to maintain close coordination and ensure effective arrangements along procession routes and at Majalis venues.

Control Room Inspected

During the visit, Khokhar inspected the central control room established at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. He reviewed the monitoring system, surveillance arrangements and complaint management mechanism.

He directed officials to keep the control room operational round the clock to ensure an immediate response to any emergency or untoward incident.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asif Raza said all relevant departments would remain active 24 hours a day during Muharram-ul-Haram and that arrangements for processions and Majalis had been finalized.

District Police Officer Aftab Ahmed Phulrawan said a zero-tolerance policy would be followed against miscreants and any attempt to disturb peace would be dealt with firmly.

Religious scholars present at the meeting assured the administration and law enforcement agencies of their cooperation in promoting sectarian harmony, brotherhood and peace during Muharram-ul-Haram.
