NEW DELHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that Pakistan will host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, while matches involving India during the tournament will be held at a neutral venue.

The decision was announced following an ICC Board meeting in India, where several key governance and tournament-related matters were discussed. The arrangement regarding India’s matches follows the hybrid model adopted for certain ICC events involving the two countries.

According to the ICC, Pakistan will stage the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028, marking another major international cricket event for the country.

ICC revises Women’s Champions Trophy schedule

The ICC also approved a revised schedule for the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027. The tournament, originally planned for June and July, will now take place from February 14 to February 28, 2027.

The change is intended to better align the tournament with the international cricket calendar.

Cricket Canada membership suspended

In another major decision, the ICC suspended the membership of Cricket Canada, citing serious breaches of membership obligations and governance requirements.

The governing body said the suspension was imposed after determining that the board had failed to meet its responsibilities under ICC regulations.

The ICC noted that a similar action had previously been taken against USA Cricket over membership-related violations.

Despite the suspension, the United States national cricket teams remain eligible to participate in ICC competitions and are expected to compete at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The decisions were outlined in an official ICC statement issued after the board meeting, which addressed governance, membership, and future tournament planning.
