Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry has praised Pakistan women’s captain Fatima Sana, describing the 25-year-old cricketer as a player with significant potential and a long international career ahead.
Perry, who played alongside Fatima Sana for Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, said it had been impressive to watch the Pakistan captain contribute with both bat and ball.
Perry Impressed by Fatima’s All-Round Ability
Perry said Fatima had shown considerable potential and was already handling significant responsibilities as Pakistan’s captain.
The Australian all-rounder said Fatima could develop into a highly accomplished international cricketer, highlighting her ability to make an impact in both disciplines.
Fatima has previously described Perry as one of her childhood cricketing heroes. The two first met in 2023, when Fatima reportedly felt hesitant about speaking to the Australian star.
Their relationship took another turn this year when Fatima became the first Pakistani woman cricketer selected for The Hundred.
Fatima and Perry Share Birmingham Phoenix Partnership
The two cricketers also batted together in Birmingham Phoenix’s final league match of the competition.
During the game against MI London at Edgbaston, Perry scored an unbeaten half-century, while her partnership with Fatima during the fifth-wicket stand helped Birmingham Phoenix secure victory.
The experience of playing alongside Perry at The Hundred has also given Fatima an opportunity to compete alongside one of the leading all-rounders in international women’s cricket.
