Pakistan Single Window and LUMS Partner to Boost Trade Facilitation Research and Capacity Building
Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on capacity building, executive education and research aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s trade facilitation ecosystem.
The agreement was signed at PSW’s headquarters in Islamabad by PSW Chief Executive Officer Aftab Haider and LUMS Provost Dr. Tariq Jadoon in the presence of senior officials from both institutions, including Dr. Muhammad Adeel Zaffar, Dean of the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB).
Partnership to Support Customs Training
Under the MoU, PSW and LUMS will jointly support capacity-building initiatives for the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programme for Probationary Assistant Collectors of Customs.
The collaboration will focus on enhancing professional knowledge in cross-border trade, digital trade facilitation, logistics, data governance and other areas aligned with PSW’s mandate.
Executive Education and Joint Research
The two institutions will jointly develop executive education programmes, technical training courses, seminars and professional development initiatives.
The agreement also provides a framework for collaborative research, policy papers and analytical studies covering digital trade, customs systems, logistics, cross-border trade and data governance.
According to the institutions, the partnership is intended to support evidence-based policymaking, strengthen academic research and provide practical insights for stakeholders involved in Pakistan’s trade ecosystem.
Officials Highlight Importance of Collaboration
Speaking at the signing ceremony, PSW CEO Aftab Haider said strengthening Pakistan’s trade ecosystem requires continued investment in human capital, institutional capacity and innovation.
LUMS Provost Dr. Tariq Jadoon said the partnership combines academic expertise with practical experience to create meaningful learning opportunities while supporting the modernization of Pakistan’s trade and customs landscape.
The two organizations said the collaboration reflects their shared commitment to advancing professional development, research-driven policymaking and the modernization of Pakistan’s cross-border trade environment.
