MARDAN: District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan Masood Ahmed has announced that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the Safe City Project for Mardan, saying the initiative will strengthen crime prevention, improve surveillance, and enhance the effectiveness of criminal investigations.
Speaking to journalists during a visit to the Mardan Police Facilitation Center, the DPO said the facility represents a major public service initiative, offering 19 police-related services under one roof in a modern and citizen-friendly environment.
Masood Ahmed said the police department has also upgraded welfare facilities for its personnel. Improvements have been made to the police mess, recreation centre, and barracks at Police Lines, while police stations across the district have been equipped with new washrooms and improved waiting areas for both officers and visitors.
He said the Police Facilitation Center in Rustam Tehsil has been completed and will be inaugurated soon. Similar centres are also being established in Katlang and Takht Bhai to expand access to police services across the district.
The DPO said the Mardan Police Facilitation Center includes separate waiting rooms and washrooms for men and women, dedicated service counters for various police facilities, and a modern cafeteria for visitors and staff.
Referring to the city’s urban challenges, Masood Ahmed said Mardan’s growing population and commercial activity have increased parking problems. On the recommendation of Mardan Police, the provincial government has approved the construction of a parking plaza to help ease traffic congestion in the city.
Earlier, media representatives were given a guided tour of the Police Lines, the DPO Office, and the Police Facilitation Center. During the visit, Facilitation Center In-charge Yasir Khan and Public Relations Officer Faheem Khan briefed journalists on the facility’s services and ongoing development projects.
