Syed Faisal Gilani, a member associated with the banned Joint Awami Action Committee, has announced that he is distancing himself from the organisation, citing recent developments and violence linked to its activities.
In a video statement issued from Rawalakot, Gilani condemned recent violent incidents and attacks attributed to members of the banned group.
He said that he had played an active role in the committee from the beginning because it was formed around public demands related to affordable flour, electricity, and other basic rights.
According to Gilani, some of those objectives were achieved through the movement’s efforts. However, he expressed concern over the current situation and the direction the organisation has taken.
Condemnation of violence
Gilani said the ongoing unrest and violence in Rawalakot had prompted him to reconsider his association with the group.
He condemned the recent incidents and stated that he could no longer support the actions being carried out in the name of the committee.
“As a result of these developments, I am announcing my complete dissociation from the organisation,” he said in his statement.
Growing tensions in Rawalakot
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions in Rawalakot following recent clashes and security-related incidents linked to the banned organisation.
Authorities have not yet issued a response to Gilani’s statement, while the broader situation in the area continues to be monitored.
Further developments are expected as officials continue to assess the security situation and the impact of recent events.
