SHANGLA: The Dispute Resolution Council Shangla resolved 17 out of 23 cases received in June through mutual reconciliation, DRC Chairman and retired SP Baharuddin Khan said.
Speaking to journalists, Baharuddin Khan said the cases included inheritance disputes, financial conflicts and other minor civil matters. He said proceedings on the remaining cases are still underway.
He said DRC members handled the matters with impartiality and patience, helping disputing parties reach settlements through dialogue instead of prolonged litigation.
Baharuddin Khan said the council’s main purpose is to provide speedy, inexpensive and accessible justice while promoting peaceful dispute resolution through mediation and consensus.
He said the DRC also helped settle a sensitive dispute between two rival groups in Mian Kallay village of Katha after a violent clash left people injured on both sides. The council intervened, held negotiations and brought the parties to an agreement, preventing further tension in the area.
The DRC chairman said citizens can approach the council without paying any fee, hiring a lawyer or seeking recommendations. Applicants can submit a simple written request, after which the council reviews the matter and begins mediation with the consent of both parties.
He said several long-pending family and community disputes have been resolved through the council, helping restore social harmony and reduce pressure on courts.
Baharuddin Khan appreciated the efforts of DRC members and said the council would continue serving the people of Shangla without discrimination.
