Former federal minister Asad Umar has said that Pakistan’s political and national challenges should be resolved through dialogue, constitutional supremacy, and respect for the public mandate rather than the use of force.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Taxila after visiting the residence of senior journalist Muhammad Ishaq Abbasi to offer condolences on the death of his brother. During the visit, Asad Umar offered prayers for the deceased and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.
Calls for constitutional and democratic solutions
Commenting on the country’s political situation, Asad Umar said lasting stability could only be achieved through meaningful dialogue among political stakeholders and adherence to constitutional principles.
He said differences should be addressed through democratic processes, adding that dialogue remains the most effective way to resolve political disputes.
Comments on PTI
Responding to a question about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Asad Umar acknowledged that the party is passing through a challenging period but said its supporters should remain hopeful.
He expressed the view that PTI continues to enjoy significant public support and reiterated his belief that party founder Imran Khan would return as prime minister.
Condolence visit
Several local personalities, including Qazi Tanveer, were present during the condolence meeting.
Muhammad Ishaq Abbasi thanked Asad Umar for visiting the family and said his presence during their time of grief was a source of comfort and encouragement.
