MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel’s family home in Mumbai has become the focus of a theft investigation after jewellery reportedly worth around INR 500,000 went missing, leading police to arrest a domestic worker.

According to Indian media reports, the jewellery was allegedly stolen from the actress’s residence in the Churchgate area, where her parents live. Marine Drive police have arrested 40-year-old Seema Ghate in connection with the case.

Police said Ghate had been working at the home of Patel’s parents for approximately 18 months. The investigation began after Patel’s mother, Asha Patel, filed a complaint with the Marine Drive police.

Family Reportedly Raised Suspicion Over Missing Jewellery

According to reports, Asha Patel had suspected Ghate of taking the jewellery and allegedly spent several months asking her to admit to the theft and return the missing items.

When the jewellery was not recovered, the family approached police and formally reported the matter.

Police subsequently arrested Ghate and produced her before a court. The court reportedly remanded her to police custody until September 15.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations against the arrested domestic worker have yet to be established through the legal process.
