Sundar Police have arrested a man accused of harassing a female polio worker by throwing a snake at her while she was performing her official duties.

According to a spokesperson for the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations, the suspect, identified as Mushtaq, is a professional snake charmer who allegedly threw a black snake at the female polio worker and threatened her during the ongoing vaccination campaign.

Police registered a case against the suspect on charges of mistreating a polio worker and interfering with government duties.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said the protection of workers participating in the polio vaccination campaign remains a top priority.

He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to obstruct polio teams or create difficulties for workers carrying out their responsibilities.

The incident has highlighted concerns over the safety of frontline health workers who continue to visit communities to protect children against polio.
