Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally inaugurated the Green Bus Project in Attock, introducing 15 buses across three routes to improve public transportation in the city.
During the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister also inspected an electric bus and reviewed the new transport service. A large number of residents gathered to welcome her and witness the launch.
15 Buses Begin Operations on Three Routes
The newly launched service has placed 15 buses into operation across three routes in Attock, providing residents with an additional public transport option for their daily journeys.
The initiative is expected to particularly benefit students, office workers and regular commuters, especially those living in areas where formal public transport facilities have remained limited.
The introduction of the service aims to improve urban mobility and provide a more organised and accessible transportation system for local residents.
Punjab Expands Cleaner Public Transport
The Attock project is part of the Punjab government’s broader strategy to expand modern and environmentally friendly public transportation beyond major urban centres.
The provincial government is working to introduce electric buses in additional cities and tehsils to improve transport facilities while supporting cleaner urban mobility.
Electric buses are also expected to contribute to reducing transport-related emissions and promoting environmental sustainability.
However, detailed route maps, designated stops and complete operating schedules have not yet been announced in the available launch information.
The launch marks another step towards expanding public transport infrastructure and introducing cleaner mobility options for residents across Punjab.
