SWAT: The University of Swat has concluded a seven-day specialised training programme focused on using remote sensing and geospatial technologies to support climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable water management and drought monitoring.
Titled “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture: Remote Sensing for Sustainable Water Management and Drought Monitoring,” the programme was organised by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Sciences.
The training was designed specifically for students of the Department of Environmental Sciences, providing them with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in remote sensing and geospatial applications relevant to climate adaptation and agricultural sustainability.
Vice Chancellor University of Swat Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim attended the concluding ceremony as chief guest. Dean Dr. Fazal Mabood, Department of Environmental Sciences faculty member Dr. Wajid Rashid, Director ORIC Dr. Anwar Hussain and Assistant Director Liaison Iftikhar Alam were also present.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Anwar Hussain thanked resource person Dr. Khalil ur Rahman for providing students with practical demonstrations and hands-on learning opportunities throughout the programme.
He also appreciated the efforts of the organisers, faculty members and participants for contributing to the successful completion of the training.
At the conclusion of the programme, certificates were distributed among participating students in recognition of their successful completion of the seven-day training.
The initiative reflects the university’s efforts to equip students with practical technological skills that can contribute to sustainable water-resource management, drought monitoring and climate-resilient agricultural practices.
