Indian playback singer Kumar Sanu became emotional while talking about veteran singer Alka Yagnik’s health, recalling their long musical partnership and praying for her speedy recovery.
The emotional moment will be featured in an upcoming episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2026, which will celebrate Kumar Sanu’s 69th birthday. A performance by contestant Geetashri reportedly reminded him of the romantic songs he recorded with Alka Yagnik.
Kumar Sanu said he hopes Alka Yagnik recovers soon and returns to singing so audiences can once again hear her voice. The two singers have recorded more than 500 duets for Hindi films and are regarded as one of Bollywood’s most popular playback-singing pairs.
Alka Yagnik’s Hearing Condition
Alka Yagnik revealed two years ago that she had suddenly lost her hearing after getting off a flight. She later said doctors diagnosed her with a rare form of sensorineural hearing loss, which she associated with a viral infection.
The singer also warned people about the potential risks of prolonged exposure to loud sounds.
In June, Alka Yagnik received the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honours. President Droupadi Murmu presented the award to her at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
