KARACHI, October 17, 2026: The Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA) held its 17th Graduation Ceremony at the IBA Auditorium, Saddar Campus, Karachi, where around 100 graduates and position holders received their qualifications and awards.

Graduates, their families, faculty members, members of the Board of Governors, senior accountancy professionals and public sector officials attended the ceremony.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Miandad Rahoojo congratulated the graduates and position holders and paid tribute to their parents and families for the support and sacrifices behind their achievements.

Rahoojo highlighted PIPFA’s role in Pakistan’s public finance profession, noting that the institute was established in 1993 by ICAP, ICMA Pakistan and the Department of the Auditor General of Pakistan. He said PIPFA is a full member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the only professional accountancy body in Pakistan specialising in public finance.

He added that the institute now has more than 9,300 members and nearly 39,000 students.

Integrity at the Heart of Public Finance

Rahoojo told the graduates that public finance professionals have a direct responsibility toward citizens because every budget allocation ultimately serves a human purpose, whether funding schools, hospitals or public servants’ salaries.

He urged them to view their profession as a form of national service and to protect public money through honest and responsible financial management.

Emphasising the importance of integrity, he said it is the real qualification of a professional.

“Your signature is your reputation, and your reputation is the only asset that cannot be rebuilt once it is lost.”

He reminded the graduates that public money represents a major responsibility because it belongs to citizens.

Technology Changing the Accountancy Profession

Rahoojo also highlighted the changing demands on public finance professionals, pointing to integrated financial management systems, e-procurement, data analytics and artificial intelligence.

He encouraged graduates to continue learning and develop strong professional judgment while keeping pace with international standards, including IPSAS and IFRS.

He said better budgeting, stronger internal controls, timely audits and transparent procurement would be essential to addressing Pakistan’s fiscal challenges. He also stressed the need for committed professionals in Karachi and Sindh across both the public and private sectors.

Advice to New Graduates

Rahoojo advised the graduates to remain punctual and reliable, study financial and procurement rules themselves, maintain complete documentation and mentor junior colleagues.

He also encouraged them to remain humble throughout their professional careers and commended PIPFA’s leadership, faculty and staff for their efforts to build a profession rooted in integrity.

PIPFA President Usman Ahsan also addressed the ceremony, while Executive Director Imdad Ali Shaikh attended the event.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of souvenirs, a group photograph and a vote of thanks.
