Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy produced a remarkable batting performance against the West Indies in the second and final Test, converting his maiden Test century into a double hundred to rescue his team from a difficult position.

Bangladesh posted 386 runs in their first innings, securing a 30-run lead after restricting the West Indies to 356.

Hridoy remained unbeaten on 242 off 359 deliveries, smashing 22 boundaries and 11 sixes during an outstanding innings.

With this achievement, he became only the fourth Bangladeshi batter to score a double century in Test cricket. He also surpassed Mushfiqur Rahim’s previous national record of 219 runs to register the highest individual Test score by a Bangladeshi batter.

Bangladesh had found themselves in serious trouble at 184 for seven before Hridoy led a remarkable recovery. He built an 117-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Taijul Islam and followed it with an 85-run stand for the ninth wicket alongside Taskin Ahmed.

Hridoy completed his double century in 304 deliveries, playing a crucial role in giving Bangladesh a first-innings advantage.

For the West Indies, Jomel Warrican was the leading wicket-taker, claiming four wickets.

At the close of the third day’s play, the West Indies had reached seven without loss in their second innings. However, poor light forced an early end to the day’s proceedings.
