Pakistan has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest country in the freelancing sector, highlighting the growing opportunities for young people in the global digital economy.

The development was highlighted during the concluding day of the two-day 18th National Convention for Student Quality Circles, held at Modern Age Public School and College (Girls’ Campus) in Abbottabad.

On the second day, several distinguished speakers, including Umar Gul, Sohail Rizvi, Ambreen Askari and former Federal Minister Dr Zafar Mirza, addressed different sessions focusing on education, leadership, future employment opportunities and national development.

Speaking about changing employment trends, Sohail Rizvi said remote and hybrid working opportunities were expanding in the modern era. He noted that Pakistan’s growing position in the global freelancing sector offered significant opportunities for young people.

He urged students to focus on continuous learning, acquire modern skills and strengthen their social intelligence to prepare for emerging employment opportunities.

Addressing the convention, former Federal Minister Dr Zafar Mirza said access to basic healthcare was the fundamental right of every citizen, while maintaining quality was essential across all sectors, particularly health and education.

Citing The Indus Hospital and The Citizens Foundation as examples, he said Pakistan had several outstanding institutions that could serve as models for national development.

He emphasised that strong institutions, the rule of law and public participation were essential foundations of national progress.

Dr Zafar Mirza further stressed that instead of remaining focused on the challenges facing Pakistan, greater attention should be given to finding practical solutions and strengthening institutional frameworks.

At the conclusion of the convention, Modern Age Principal Abdul Wahid Mir thanked the distinguished guests, speakers and participants for their contributions.

He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to organising more positive and educational activities to support the intellectual, academic and practical development of students.

The event concluded with the presentation of shields to distinguished guests, while students who secured positions in various competitions received prizes and awards.

The organisers of the two-day national convention were also honoured with awards and certificates of appreciation in recognition of their efforts.
