DIR LOWER, May 5 — A student-led blood donation drive was held at Government Postgraduate College Timergara to support patients suffering from thalassemia and other blood disorders, as part of ongoing efforts to address critical blood shortages in the region.

The camp was organized by the Hamza Foundation Welfare Thalassemia Hospital in collaboration with the college administration, focusing on both blood collection and awareness about thalassemia prevention and care.

Awareness and student participation

Students actively took part in the initiative, donating blood and attending awareness sessions on the importance of regular donations and early screening for thalassemia.

Resource Mobilization Officers Ateeq ur Rehman and Ibrarullah Jan delivered motivational talks, highlighting the role of youth in supporting patients who depend on lifelong transfusions.

Institutional support

The event was conducted with the cooperation of the college administration, including Principal Prof. Saeed Ullah and faculty members, who facilitated the arrangements and encouraged student participation.

Organizers noted that such initiatives are essential to maintaining a steady supply of safe blood for patients, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds.

Recognition

At the conclusion of the event, representatives of Hamza Foundation presented a commemorative shield to the college principal in recognition of the institution’s support in organizing the drive.
