RAWALPINDI, September 14: Pakistan and Indonesia on Monday agreed to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, with a focus on professional training, defence collaboration and joint military exercises, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali, Chief of the Indonesian Navy, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
According to ISPR, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation.
Both officials expressed satisfaction over the existing military-to-military relations between Pakistan and Indonesia and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in key defence areas.
The discussions particularly focused on professional training, broader defence collaboration and joint exercises.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding and brotherly relations with Indonesia, particularly in the defence and security domains.
Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions to regional peace and stability.
The meeting underscored the continuing defence engagement between the two countries and their shared interest in deepening military cooperation.
